Dear…
There are now only a few days left until your arrival in Rome and all of us in the Organizing Committee of the ITTF World Masters Table Tennis Championships – Rome 2024 presented by Stag Global, the biggest table tennis championships ever, are in great trepidation to guarantee you the best welcome and that everything is ready, up to your expectations to make this historic event memorable.
With this newsletter we intend to give you the most important information you’ve been waiting for!
1 – Schedule, draws and results: on this link https://wmc2024.ittf.com you will find all the information you were waiting for the competition: draws, groups, schedule and number of table where you will play for the first two days of competition for single events! Draws for doubles and mixed doubles will be done on Monday 8th July.
Players were placed into groups based on a seeding list. The seeding list was determined by considering the final positions up to the Roundof 32 of the last World Masters Championships and the last Continental Championships.
Also remember to use the same link even during the event, to find all the information on the tournament, including the results of the matches and the draw for the competition of others day (consolation tournament included)
In fact, in line with our environmental sustainability policy, you will not find any paper attached on the walls inside the venue to consult the tournament data but all the information can be acquired from the link above or from many info points present on site where, through the barcode found on your accreditation, you will be able to get all the information you want about your participation.
2 – Para Players: upon decision of the ITTF, international classifications will not be carried out for athletes registered in the Para tournament. In order to participate, “para players” must have an International or National classification card (the national classification will be considered valid for participation in the event). For players who have neither an ITTF classification nor a national classification, a classification visit will be carried out on 11 July at the competition venue (the classification will only be valid for participation in the event). For further information, read here: ittf para events – rules & regulations; Para athletes
3 – Accreditations: I remind you that the EAST entrance of the Fiera di Roma (event entrance) is located in Via Alexandre Gustave Eiffel and that the accreditation process will begin from 12.00 on Saturday 6 July until 8.00 pm. to start again on Sunday 7 July starting from 9.00 am until 10.00 pm.
Remember to bring with you both the registration voucher got during the registration process with the services purchased and your passport (or other document that unequivocally demonstrates possession of the nationality indicated during registration) which you will have to show during the accreditation phase.
Those who have not registered by 10pm on July 7th will be cancelled from the double and mixed doubles. However, players who arrive later than 10 pm on 7 July and wish to play Doubles and Mixed Doubles should confirm by email to jbentes@ittf.com no later than 5 July.
However, those who have registered at the scheduled times and are currently without a doubles partner will be paired randomly. Since the accreditation process could be a bit long considering the large number of people to be accredited, we ask you, from now on, to have the necessary patience!
4 – Outdoor parking: people who have purchased a subscription for outdoor parking (cars or campers without water and electricity service) must arrive, equipped with the purchase voucher, at the car park called P5. By showing the voucher they will be able to park temporarily to go and get credit. Once you have the accreditation to access the car park you will need to show it to the staff. Access to the car park is permitted from 6 to 14 July. Below is the Google Maps link to get to the car park: https://maps.app.goo.gl/EHGJNob5eSgq3ipL6
5 – Internal parking: for people who have purchased a subscription for parking inside the fair (car or camper with electricity and water services included), the same arrival and parking methods described above apply. The name of the car park where you have to enter is “CARGO EST“. Access to the car park is permitted from 6 to 14 July.
Below is the Google Maps link to get to the car park: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CMTdaGaUNb7DLFsz7
6 – Daily parking: those who have not already purchased a subscription for the entire period and intend to park outdoor (close to the main entrance) will be able to purchase a daily parking ticket directly at the car park called P6 which is located exactly in front of the one P5 (reserved for subscription holders). The daily cost of entry to the car park is € 15.00. It is no longer possible to purchase daily tickets to the internal parking as the available spaces are sold out.
7 – Public transport and Shuttle Bus: for those who will travel by public transport the simplest way to reach the fair is by train: from the Tuscolana, Tiburtina, Ostiense stations connected to the A and B lines of the Metro take the Train or FL 1 towards Fiumicino and get off at the stop dedicated to “Fiera Roma”.
The distance between the stop and the EAST entrance is approximately 1.5 km. Considering the distance, we have planned to provide a shuttle bus service (n° 1 bus with 50 seats) between the stop and the EAST entrance with the service starting from 7.30 am. Obviously, as the service has a limited number of places, it will ALWAYS be necessary to give priority to people over 70.
8 – Final Layout: below you can consult the updated layout of the entire part of the exhibition center that will be used.
9 – Ticket office and daily entrances: the fair on 6 and 7 July will only be open to people with accreditation, any non-accredited companions will only be able to attend the matches starting from Monday 8 July. Daily entrance tickets can be purchased online at the following link https://rome2024.org/biglietteria/ or directly at the ticket office located at the EST entrance. The cost of the daily entrance ticket is €14.00. For children up to 8 years old entry is free, while for children aged 9 to 12 years old entry is €10.00.
10 – Training: in the days before the start of the competitions (6 and 7 July) the following pavilions may be used for training:
– 6 July: pavilion n° 2 from 12pm to 8pm, total 96 tables
– 7 July: pavilions n° 2 and 3 from 9am to 6pm, total 176 tables.
On competition days the venue will open from 8.00 am.
11 – Opening Ceremony: the opening ceremony of the ITTF World Masters Table Tennis Championships Rome 2024 presented by Stag Global will take place on Sunday 7 July from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm. For the occasion we are preparing a great show that we hope you will enjoy!
The Ceremony will take place inside pavilion n° 1, which will be the Main Hall. Only people with accreditation (athletes and accompanying) will be able to attend the ceremony. Pavilion n° 1 will have, for the occasion, a maximum capacity of approximately 5200 people. Any excess people will have to attend the ceremony in the Fan Village outside the pavilion through a LED wall.
12 – Live Streaming: I am also happy to inform you that for the first time in the history of the World Masters Table Tennis Championships both the Opening Ceremony and the competitions will be broadcast by ITTF on the ITTF YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@ITTFWorld/streams with a Live streaming curated by the company STUPA. In particular, in addition to the Opening Ceremony, the matches played on 11 tables in the main Hall will be broadcast, which will be the same one that will host the finals on 14 July.
13 – Fan Village: The “Roma 2024” Fan Village will be the heart of the venue! It will be developed both inside the Main Hall (pavilion n° 1), where you will find a large Expo Area with over 30 exhibitors (including the LOC and the Hospitality Partner) and a “food & beverage” area where you can eat, and outside (close to pavilion 1) where you will find various corners with tables for eating outdoors, play areas with outdoor tables, table football and darts but also a stage with a LED wall on which, from 8 to 13 July (with exception on Wednesday 10 July) various moments of artistic and musical entertainment are planned. The daily entertainment program of the “Roma 2024” Fan Village will be available directly on site.
14 – Farewell party: as already announced in a previous newsletter, the final party of Rome 2024 will be free and will take place on Saturday 13 July starting from 8.30 pm at the external Fan Village. It will be an opportunity to say goodbye and celebrate the biggest table tennis event ever together!
15 – Free day: as you know, Wednesday 10th July will be a free day from competitions. Nonetheless, the venue will be open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm for accredited members and visitors to host the following activities:
– Training in pavilion n° 2;
– Free play on outdoor tables located in the Fan Village;
– TTX tournament which will take place inside the main Hall (pavilion n° 1) starting from 3.00 pm with an expected end by 7.00 pm. All those registered for the tournament must arrive by 2.30 pm.
16 – Flash Mob and Gala Dinner: on Wednesday 10 July (free day) we have planned to meet at 6.30 pm for all participants who wish to be present in Piazza del Campidoglio, one of the most beautiful and iconic squares in Rome, seat of the Municipality, for a flash mob which aims to have the participants say “hello” to the city of Rome. The event, in which some city authorities will also participate, will be immortalized by video-photographic images that will go around the world!!
Afterwards, only for those who have purchased the voucher, the official gala dinner of the ITTF World Masters Table Championships Rome 2024 presented by Stag Global will take place starting from 7.30 pm in one of the most beautiful places in the city where you can dine immersed in the history of Rome: the Terrace and the rooms of the Protomoteca, which are located inside Palazzo Senatorio in the Piazza del Campidoglio.
17 – Insurance: Among the last things to check for your stay in Rome to be unforgettable is Accident and Medical Reimbursement/Assistance coverage. This will give you peace of mind that any minor inconvenience is not a problem. If you have not yet provided independently, you can check whether the policies designed by Broker MAG and provided by Europe Assistance and Reale Mutua may be the solution for you and your family members. Europe Assistance’s Medical Expense Reimbursement and Assistance policy covers up to 30,000 euros in Medical Expenses at a cost of € 50 euros per person for the entire period of your stay in Italy.
The Accident policy provided by Reale Mutua covers, again for the entire period of stay in Italy, from the risk of injury at a cost of € 20.
You can find all the information and how to join at https://rome2024.org/ (Insurance Policy section) or through the dedicated platform https://magassicurami.com/store/ittf-rome.
We recommend that participants take out personal health insurance before arriving in Italy. Any costs for medical treatment will not, under any circumstances, be borne by the organisers. The Organising Committee cannot be held responsible for any accident, injury, theft, or damage of any kind.
