as you can see (https://www.ttm.co.at/wmc2024/participants), the goal of 4000 players registered at the next ITTF World Master Table Tennis Championships – Rome 2024 has also been reached!!
Therefore, after just over two months from the opening of registrations (June 20), this new milestone brings us closer to achieving one of the goals we set at the beginning: making Rome 2024 the biggest table tennis event in the history of our sport, a record held by the city of Alicante which hosted the 2016 edition of the World Veteran Championships with 4,600 participants.
For this reason, I want to thank you for being one of the 4,000 athletes who registered for Rome 2024 but, at the same time, also remind you that there are only 1,000 places still available to reach the limit of 5,000 athletes set by the Organizing Committee!
In fact, if the trend of daily registrations remains the same recorded so far, the number of 5,000 players will be reached by the end of September! Therefore, it’s important that all those who intend to participate but have postponed their registration hurry up to avoid missing out on the opportunity to be part of an event that promises to be memorable!
Given the numerous requests for clarifications received, now I want to dedicate a few lines to remind you, if you haven’t already done so, of the correct procedure for pairing doubles:
to request another player to want to play the doubles match, it is necessary to enter the online system (https://www.ttm.co.at/wmc2024/users/login) using your credentials received via email at time of registration (if you have not received them, check them in spam or, if you are sure you have not received them, request a duplicate from info@rome2024.org); next to the player’s name it is necessary to click on the ‘update’ button, select the age category of the partner and select the athlete from the list box, and confirm. The partner requested will receive an email to inform them of your request, and will have to accept it, always and exclusively through the online procedure indicated below.
To confirm or refuse the request to play the doubles match received from an athlete, it is therefore necessary to enter the system with your credentials, click on the button next to the name ‘requests’ and confirm or refuse the request.
PS: sending an acceptance or rejection email to the Organizing Committee’s email is useless!
In addition, to facilitate communication between athletes for the search for a partner for doubles, we have also decided to create another Facebook page (WMC ROME 2024 – COMMUNITY), active from today, through which all athletes will be able to exchange technical information to search for the doubles partner more congenial to their characteristics or simply share information on the championships.
I conclude by recalling some aspects related to your trip to Rome:
the Organizing Committee is not responsible for the travel, accommodation and transport of the event participants who, therefore, will have to plan their stay in Rome independently; remember that Rome is a city which, like many other world capitals, has recorded a significantly increased tourist flow in the post-pandemic period and that accommodation costs cannot be compared with those of other small Italian cities (e.g., Rimini).
If you haven’t already done so, start organizing your stay in the capital now; when booking, always take into consideration the transport times to the competition venue, whether you are traveling by car or by public transport. If, on the other hand, you want to stay in another hotel closer to the city center, get in touch directly with I Viaggi del Perigeo by writing to roma2024@iviaggidelperigeo.it and you will receive a proposal tailored to your needs; if you travel by car or camper, I remind you that on the registration site (https://www.ttm.co.at/wmc2024/shop/shops/wizard/people) it is already possible to purchase, even separately from the registration to the event and at a discounted cost compared to the daily admission, a parking package and that, shortly, we will also start offering the purchase of a series of additional services including: gala dinner, farewell party, TTX tournament, etc.
